Heli Skiing Alaska
Heli Skiing Alaska
Heli Skiing Alaska is the "promised land" for expert skiers but there is also terrain for intermediate skiers and above. Yes, there are a lot of "sick" lines and steep spines, but there are also runs for intermediate skiers on fat skis.
The season starts later than most because there is not much daylight in Decmeber and January, so most heli skiing operations open in late February and go through April. The powder skiing is light and the runs are long. Most ski decents are over 2,000 feet.
Some heli skiing operations take skiers corn skiing in June and July. Tordrillo Mountain Lodge runs trips called Kings & Corn where you heli ski corn snow and fish for King Salmon.
Many of the heli ski lodges are rustic, but some operations offer luxury accommodations and fine dining and massage to guests
