This past MLK Weekend, Hermès took over the courtyard of the Hotel Jerome with a special activation featuring its Le Monde d’Hermès kiosk, an extension of the Le Monde d’Hermès magazine, which welcomes readers into the diverse world of creativity the French house encapsulates. During an incredibly snowy and cold few days, the Jerome courtyard was home to a large, orange kiosk displaying issues of the biannual magazine. Surrounding the kiosk were chairs and tables where visitors could relax and enjoy a game of Tic-Tac-Toe or Connect Four. To warm up from the cold, an outdoor bar offered French-inspired treats including mulled wine, coffee, hot chocolate and raclette.
Each year, Hermès embodies a theme, and the theme for 2023 was “Astonishment.” That translated into exhibits that brought to life elements from the magazine, from a vast display of geodes and moon rocks to a jukebox that played records featuring spoken-word stories from the current issue. There was even a photo booth that manipulated photos to mimic one of the shoots in the magazine.
To commemorate the kiosk’s visit to Aspen, an orange gondola served as the entrance to the exhibits, and a nature expert allowed passers-by the opportunity to “snow-gaze,” examining the beauty and individuality of snowflakes underneath a magnifying glass. Additionally, members of the local company Dance Aspen danced around the room featuring the exhibits, offering a live performance aspect to the unique and innovative experience.
