WHISTLER OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY SUMMIT – SEPTEMBER 11th – 14th, 2014
The Whistler Outdoor Photography Summit is back with a series of workshops taught by some of the biggest names in action and outdoor photography. All instructors are long time Whistler natives; their local knowledge combined with their photographic expertise combine to make it an opportunity not to be missed.
If you have not been to Whistler before, this summit is a great way to get to know the region. Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the drive from Vancouver to Whistler is breathtaking. Plan to have lots of time and scenic breaks. If you get hungry on the way, be sure to stop in Squamish at Sushi Sen. Whistler is home to some of the best hotels, spas, and restaurants in North America.

2014 Workshops
Beginner Action Sport Workshop
Cost: $1050 inc. tax
Instructors: Eric Berger and Paul Morrison
This workshop is designed for people who are just getting into using an SLR digital camera and looking to document their friends, outdoor adventures and share their images with the world. Learning the fundamentals of camera operation, using the proper software and choosing the right equipment will be the initial focus. Visualizing your image and the best way to communicate with your subject will also be key objectives. The opportunity to shoot professional athletes in a controlled setting is also a valuable opportunity offered in this course.
Advanced Action Sport Workshop
Cost: $1050 inc. tax
Instructors: Blake Jorgenson and Scott Serfas
This workshop is designed for advanced amateurs to professionals with an already solid foundation looking to take their photography to the next level. Through an open forum discussion and review this workshop will concentrate on the mechanics of business, publishing and communication. The goal is to learn how to make your photography experience of ”getting your images out there” enhance your overall outdoor experiences. We will work on assignment simulations to learn how to build shoots from the ground up and how to deliver those creations to the world in a way that works for you, as well as progress with more advanced photo techniques and equipment.
Outdoor Sport Journalism
Cost: $1050 inc. tax
Instructors : Jordan Manley and Andrew Querner
This workshop is open to people with basic knowledge of digital SLR’s that are more interested in people, travel, and outdoor lifestyle and documenting their experiences through storytelling with images. This course will focus on understanding a sense of time, place and mood in amazing locations that can be captured between the action. Discussions on visual theory, storytelling, and the breakdown of what makes a good journalistic image will comprise the core of this workshop.
Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop – classroom only
Cost: $650 inc. tax.
Instructor: Marc Koegel
This year we are offering a three day Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom classroom intensive with Marc Koegel from Vancouver Photo Workshops that will go through the entire workflow of image management and developing in both programs. For those of you who are self taught on these programs and looking to get rid of bad habits and progress to new levels, Marc will help you achieve breakthroughs with your images that have been difficult on your own.
The Whistler Outdoor Photography Summit focuses on the entire process of documenting, exploring the outdoors and capturing amazing outdoor visuals through photography. The day courses work on being out in the field learning how to manage, direct and communicate with subjects to make what participants are looking for come to life in all types of conditions. Each day includes in classroom editing, reviewing, image processing and hands-on software instruction while each evening we have presentations, lectures, and slide shows in the Millennium Place theatre with industry experts and guests followed by a group dinner at the renowned Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler village.
Whistler Outdoor Photography Summit will continue each season with new instructors, new industry guests, and new formats.
