‘Tis the Season – Aspen Celebrity Sightings

Aspen’s very own Local Celebrity Correspondent is twitching with excitement, awaiting the annual Christmas feast of ancient celebrities, has-beens and Mariah Carey, to grace our humble little mountain town with their glamor, plastic surgery, unnatural breasts and prehistoric movie careers. Believe it or not, this is the one week each year when Aspen almost justifies its worn-out image as the winter playground of the beautiful people.

There’s definitely been some celebrity slippage. Jack Nicholson doesn’t show up any more. It’s almost 20 years since Donald Trump’s love triangle erupted in fisticuffs at Bonnie’s on Aspen Mountain. And Heidi and Seal split. Boo.

Thank goodness for favorite old locals Kurt and Goldie, who reliably wander around in casual duds and un-brushed hair for a spot of last-minute Christmas shopping at James Perse. And hooray for Melanie Griffiths, even post-Antonio, who often smokes up a storm outside Paradise Bakery. These days we’re grateful if we get Mama Kardashian at subterranean hotspot, the “bou”. Elle McPherson, sometimes obliges with a downtown stroll. And we can normally count on our favorite snow bunny, Paris Hilton, ‘posing up’ in a Gondola car. Please God. We need something to brighten up our dull little lives…

According to the most important media sources of the northern hemisphere, it all started Monday, with the grand arrival of the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carrie(4.7 million Instagram followers), with ‘new beau,’ Bryan Tanaka in tow (they didn’t include his head in any of the pictures, because really, who cares?)

However, sorry Mariah, the really big star is already in the house–even more sexy, just likely to wear shiny, tiny leopard-print clothing items, Brazilian superstar singer, Ievete Sangalo (13.4 million Instagram followers) has been here for days, dressed correctly for the sub-zero temperatures and enjoying a bit of delicious anonymity, we suspect…
