Telluride Bliss – Luxury Accommodation by Exceptional Stays

The fall colors were spectacular and the mountain tops were covered in white from early dustings of snow. The yellow gold Aspen trees glistened below the jagged peaks. The mountains look different here, there is a very European feeling to the high peaks that surround the town. A majestic heard of Elk caught our attention as we turned off the main road to head up to Mountain Village. Their presence was both regal and awe inspiring.

Telluride Bliss - Luxury Accommodation by Exceptional StaysWe arrived at Alpen Ridge’s luxury accommodation by Exceptional Stays and were immediately blown away by this impressive property. We began to explore the house, the kids went crazy for the pool ping pong tables and plethora of games and the adults began to decide on bedrooms. I felt like the master bedroom with the King size bed, extra large jacuzzi tub and floor to ceiling windows was calling my name. The house had four stories with 6 bedrooms and 6.5 baths. There was even a high lookout with yoga mats and views of the valley below.

After unpacking, we opened a bottle of wine and poured it into beautiful fine crystal wine glasses. There was a selection for any varietal we might have chosen. We settled into the living area onto oversized leather couches with fur throws, lit the fireplace and watched the sky grow dark and light up with stars.

We woke up to another beautiful day and began to make plans. Having such amazing accommodations does have its downside, as we were reticent to leave, but the town of Telluride was calling. We jumped on the gondola and made our way to Baked in Telluride for their delicious homemade treats. Living in Aspen, we aren’t strangers to scenic beauty and ski town life, but Telluride is different, there is a vibe that is unique to Telluride. It’s a bit like Kathmandu in Nepal, but with a chic and sophistocated twist. We meandered down Main Street, popping into shops and galleries, sharing smiles with locals and the many dogs that are welcome everywhere. Sublime’s window drew me in and I just had to buy a pair of very stylish sneakers. We passed the Free Box where people are able to leave something they don’t need for someone who is in need, again, something uniquely Telluride. Years ago, I had attended their yearly Telluride AIDS Benefit fashion show that is now over 25 years old. It gave me some insight into the community of people who call Telluride home.

We made our way back home via the gondola, turned on the barbecue and grilled steaks and burgers. Telluride has so many great restaurants, but          we didn’t want to miss hanging with friends in our fabulous house with the amazing views. After dinner we fired up the jacuzzi and sat under the              stars. It was utter perfection.

Our time in Telluride literally flew by and as we packed our bags we made plans to come back and stay at  Alpen Ridge by Exceptional Stays again when we can ski in and ski out and enjoy Telluride again in another season.
