Stylish Instagrammer and keen skier Ania B makes fabulous first tracks in beautiful Banff, Alberta.

Last winter, Ania set a personal goal many can relate to — making up for all the skiing she’d missed out on in years past. For her glorious return to the mountains, she chose the impressive UNESCO World Heritage beauty of Sunshine Village Banff. Perched in the midst of pristine Banff National Park, Sunshine provides total immersion in one of the world’s most beautiful wilderness settings and the perfect chance to stay at Sunshine Mountain Lodge — the only ski-in, ski-out accommodation in Banff National Park.

“A ski resort that is completely secluded from the rest of the world,” says Ania. “Once the lifts close and the day visitors ski-out, you are up there all on your own. There is serenity in the complete darkness at night, cozying up by the fireplace. Waking up and being the first ones on the chairlifts is a reward in and of itself.”

Morning rises over the Rockies with coffee in bed – and with the press of a button, remote-controlled shutters reveal towering 22-foot picture windows opening onto a dramatic panorama of Lookout Mountain.

“I was finally ready to hit Goat’s Eye Mountain,” she tells us of the terrain known for only blue and black runs, “and quickly found my new favorite run. For those looking to get their confidence up on Goat’s Eye, start with the Sunshine Coast Trail. It’s long so you can get lots of practice, not very steep and one of the widest.  You never have to worry about other people cramping your style.”

Sunshine Village Banff is a perfect fit for those who, like Ania, appreciate stunning scenery amidst true wilderness tempered with loads of creature comforts along the way.

“Impeccable runs fit for every skill level, amazing food and service at the day lodges and the hotel, the best views – plus a hot tub at the end of a long day on the slopes and a fireplace flickering in your room.” All this, “and memories to last a lifetime.”

BOX OUT Sunshine Mountain Lodge boasts the area’s largest outdoor hot pool, cedar-lined sauna, and a range of relaxing treatments and massages at Verde Day Spa.
