From fabrics to action

The Powerlogic Lab, rh+’s R&D laboratory, has been studying and creating high performance fabric for sportswear for 15 years. Innovative and high-performance Biomorphic fabric, which can be found right across our Snow Code FW 2016 collection, is the very latest technology developed by rh+. With Biomorphic fabric at its heart, rh+ has also created two other special projects to enhance the collection further. Atelier is a project that brings artisanal fabric printing techniques to our Woman range, blurring the boundaries between sport and Italian fashion. The Keratin Project involves adding top quality Italian manufactured wool to garments from our Man range. Using the very best quality wool fibres means being able to offer you the very best winter sportswear.

Biomorphic

Biomorphic

BY APPLYING BIOMORPHIC TECHNOLOGY, rh+ HAS CREATED A REVOLUTION IN SPORTSWEAR BY DESIGNING FABRICS AND GARMENTS THAT ARE NOT ONLY ULTRA-WATERPROOF AND BREATHABLE, BUT ALSO EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE AND A PLEASURE TO WEAR.

Commonly referred to as “Bio”, this technology is an outstanding example of what the Powerlogic Lab can do. This is where our research & Development team develop our sportswear, often overcoming huge technological and conceptual barriers in the process. This is where Biomorphic was created and where, over the years, it has been refined and developed. The initial design brief was to come up with a fabric that offered the same level of protection as a laminated fabric (20,000 mm/ca waterproofing and 15,000 g/m2/24h breathability), while still being soft to the touch and as elastic as Nylon or polyester-based fabrics commonly used in cycling clothes. The idea was to ensure waterproof protection, as well as unconditional freedom of movement, while also improving wearability. Biomorphic is now applied to all rh+ garments and used in combination with different kinds of membranes and external layers with varying features – all depending on each garment’s particular design specifications. This results in garments that exceed the needs of the most demanding athletes in the world, athletes who also provide feedback to our R&D team in the Powerlogic Lab.

Keratin

Keratin

THE KERATIN PROJECT WAS DEVELOPED BY THE POWERLOGIC LAB AND IN COOPERATION WITH TOP QUALITY ITALIAN WOOL SELECTION AND PROCESSING SPECIALISTS. KERATIN, WHICH IS FOUND IN WOOL, NATURALLY REGULATES BODY TEMPERATURE AND INCREASES BREATHABILITY.

Wool is an easily recognised and well-known product that has been used for thousands of years, although it has never been so closely studied and analysed as it is today by the textiles industry. The rh+ Powerlogic Lab has been working closely with some top quality internationally-recognized Italian wool manufacturing companies who have been using traditional wool processing skills for generations. This partnership led to our Keratin Project: a series of fabrics made using the protein found naturally in Merino wool, Keratin. It is widely known that this protein enables natural thermoregulation and active breathability, as well as being anti-bacterial and elastic. These quality fibres are used to increase the performance of the rh+ Man sportswear collection and result in noticeably different and unique garments.

Atelier

ATELIER PROJECT

ITALIAN ARTISANAL AND MANUFACTURING TRADITIONS MEET INNOVATION IN THE POWERLOGIC LAB. THE ATELIER PROJECT COMBINES SPORTSWEAR TECHNOLOGY AND HIGH QUALITY FASHION PRINTING TO CREATE UNIQUE GARMENTS.

The Atelier project by rh+ combines technical knowhow in the field of sportswear and traditional artisanal fashion printing, to create womenswear garments that are instantly recognizable as Italian – both in terms of technology and style. This printing tradition began 50 years ago in a region known for its textiles production and fashion printing; the rh+ Powerlogic Lab today continues to explore creativity by adopting these traditional skills and continuously developing the brand and its passionate artistic side. The Frozen Nature theme is inspired by the Hellebore, a winter flower, imagined against the backdrop of an icy woodland. Initial sketches become graphics and then take shape in the hands of our skilled workers and thanks to the traditional manufacturing techniques used by ISA S.p.A.
