Miura San – The Man who Skied Down Everest
After a big morning of team building we had a traditional Japanese lunch and split into groups and headed out on the hill. We skied the piste and the pow and rode all the rides in the Niseko area. It was a blast and so good to get out in the fresh snow that was constantly falling. We skied till the last minute and headed back to the hotel. I raced to the Onsen to soak my tired body and then had a 1 hour Shiatsu massage which was pretty much heaven on earth. Wanting to drift off into dreamland, I scraped my body off the table and raced to my room to make the evening lecture. What a treat it was, Miura San, was our speaker and we watched his most recent summit of Everest at 80 years old. For those of you who don’t know his name, he is “The Man Who Skied Down Everest”. Smithsonian called him the Godfather of Extreme Skiing. I’m dying to go watch the video again. What a kind man, what a fit man, what a legend.
We moved the party next door to hear a team of Taiko Drummers and then a group of female singers. We tasted wine, sake, and Sapporo beer of course and amazing cuisine from around Niseko. We finished the night with photos and awards from our team building event earlier in the day. Very proud to have clinched the Silver for Team Hanazono!
