The Ötztal Valley: Soelden Austria & Obergurgl-Hochgurgl
Soelden Austria is in the Ötztal valley in the western Austrian state of Tyrol. It’s known for two things: the mummified corpse of “Ötzi the Iceman” at the Ötzi Village outdoor museum with a look into pre-historic Alpine life, and its ski areas at Sölden and Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. Sölden is the venue of the Alpine Ski World Cup and one of Europe’s most renowned ski and snowboard resorts with its marvelous BIG 3 vantage points – lookouts from the area’s three tallest mountains. Exclusive Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are right on the slopes and boast absolute snow reliability from November until late spring.
The Skiing
Skiing in Soelden Austria is in the Ötztal Valley and offers miles and miles of connected resorts and runs in the ski resorts of Sölden, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, family-friendly ski mountains like Hochötz-Kühtai, or three more ski areas all over Ötztal. The Ötztal Super Skipass comprises all Ötztal ski areas in a single ticket. It bundles 221 miles (356 km) of slopes, 90 mountain lifts, and six ski areas in a single pass.

Experience: The ice Q
The ice Q might be one of the coolest pieces of architecture anywhere in the ski world. It is sexy and innovative, and the views are ridiculous. Enjoy it by day or go all out and book a summit dinner. Heaven!
Going Gourmand
Chef Michael Eigl of the Bergland is a culinary genius! The dishes star local ingredients that tantalize the tastebuds. The Ötztal valley lamb is to die for. If you have a hankering for comfort food, try Restaurant Gusto. Warning! The Diavola pizza will have you emptying every water glass on the table.
Back to Bond
Check out the new 007 ELEMENTS — a film installation at the summit of the Gaislachkogl Mountain. James Bond fans can journey through a series of high-tech, interactive galleries, all dedicated to the world of Bond. Oh, that eye candy! Craving more action? The Top Mountain Crosspoint Motorcycle Museum rocks the coolest motorbikes ever made.
Hohe Mut Alm:
This on-mountain restaurant is a “must” when skiing in Obergurgl and Hochgurgl.
On sunny days, sit outside and take in the spectacular views. Quench your thirst with one of their XL beers. On snowy days, you can sit inside at one of their cosy tables by the roaring fire. At night you can ride the gondola up for free for fine dining with live music till late.
Top Mountain Star
Hochgurgl’s circular restaurant and bar offers 360 degree panoramic views. At over 10,000 feet, you are literally on the top of the world. Stop in for a coffee or a schnapps to warm up. Check out the thousands of Swarovski crystals glittering on the Star Bar.
