Debuting in Fall 2026, Viceroy will bring its signature style of hospitality and luxury residences to Sun Valley, one of Idaho’s most iconic mountain destinations. Situated in downtown Ketchum, The Observatory Sun Valley, A Viceroy Resort, will feature 73 guest rooms, 12 penthouse residences, and a robust lineup of amenities, including a full-service spa, fitness center, dipping pool, and a rooftop observatory.
Located within the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, the nation’s first Gold Tier reserve spanning more than 1,400 square miles, the property offers access to some of the clearest, most protected night skies in the world. Housed within a 12-foot-6-inch Ash Dome, the observatory will feature a PlaneWave CDK17 telescope on a PlaneWave L-500 mount, along with a wide-field refractor and an ultra-wide-field camera system, allowing guests to seamlessly shift between detailed planetary views and sweeping vistas of constellations and distant galaxies. Guided telescope sessions, constellation talks, and private experiences led by local celestial photographer Travis Amick will further bring the night sky to life, alongside programming timed to major astronomical events like meteor showers and planetary alignments.
Designed as both a refined retreat and vibrant community hub, the resort invites guests and locals alike to connect, unwind, and experience Sun Valley from a truly elevated perspective.
