Dale of Norway has been making the best ski sweaters in the world for well over 200 years. Designer Svanhild Strøm shares her passion for designing for one of the world’s top apparel brands. Started in 1879, Dale of Norway is know for their craftsmanship, quality, and timeless beauty. Their modern day designs take inspiration from the history and heritage of the brand while remaining modern and fashionable for today’s market.

New this season is the “Olympic Collection” to support the Youth Olympic Games that will be coming to Lillehammer this winter. This collection’s inspiration came from the sweaters the Norwegian team wore when the Olympic Games were in Lillehammer in 1994. The patterns are similar, but the technology is totally different with this line available in extra fine merino wool. In case you didn’t notice, the patterns depict Odin and Freyja, from Norse Mythology. Odin was a war-god, essentially the Zeus of Norse Mythology and Freyja was a goddess associated love, sex, and beauty.

Next time you look at the patterns on the Dale of Norway sweaters, see if you can see Odin on his eight legged horse and Freyja the goddess of fertility on the sweaters.
