If I had just two words to describe The Aubrey – Santiago, Chile, they would be “Hollywood Hideaway”. Nestled at the base of Cerro San Cristobal in the funky cool neighborhood of Bellavista in Santiago, The Aubrey is THE place to stay in Santiago. The vibe is hip, but welcoming and has that romantic feeling of Hollywood in its heyday.

The Hotel is owned by two friends, one is Australian and the other English; together they have created Santiago’s first true boutique hotel. There are 15 rooms, most with balconies and terraces. All are uniquely decorated. The hotel itself is like a large mansion and guests are encouraged to make themselves at home in all the public places. The pool is sexy and glamorous, and they have a piano bar for some late night fun. It was built in 1927 and retains the art deco features of the past.

When you arrive you are welcomed by a Pisco Sour, a traditional Chilean cocktail. Once you settle in and make yourself at home, go for a spin around the neighborhood which features wonderful hand crafted Chilean products and charming bars and restaurants. A complementary breakfast is included and you can decide to sit in the warm and cheery breakfast room or outside on the terrace. Rachael, one of the staff members, is probably the happiest and most friendly person I’ve ever met. When your day starts by waking up at The Aubrey, having a delicious breakfast on the terrace, and a flash of Rachael’s million dollar smile, you cannot go wrong.  If you are skiing in Chile this summer, make sure to start AND end your trip here.
